Hot Cross Bun
Dry:
- 4 teaspoons of yeast (active)
- 3 tablespoons of sugar
- 4 cups of flour
- ½ teaspoon of cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon of cloves
- 1 teaspoon of allspice
- 1 teaspoon of cardamom
- 1 teaspoon of fennel seeds
- Raisins or sultanas (as much as you like)
Wet:
- ¼ cup of chia egg
- 50g of butter softened (microwave) or oil
- ½ cup of warm soy milk
- ½ cup of warm water
- Zest of 1 orange
Preparation
- When the dough is ready, roll out into a rectangle.
- On the top of the dough, add:
- oil (neutral) or 25g of butter.
- date syrup (or brown sugar).
- more spices (cardamom, fennel seeds).
- Pour onto dough + spread evenly.
- Roll up the dough and cut into ~8 pieces.
- Place the pieces in a baking tray lined with baking paper.
- Bake at 180°C until ready (golden).

- (optional) pipe flour + water crosses on half way through.
